For the first time at MWC19, startups from Africa reunite under the Africa Startup Initiative Program by Telecel Group

February, 2019 (Barcelona, Spain) –  Telecel Group selected 14 startups to be sponsored under Africa Startup Initiative Program at the Mobile World Congress 2019, taking place from 25 to 28 February in Barcelona, Spain. Telecel Group launched Africa Startup Initiative program for young innovative entrepreneurs in order to contribute in a meaningful way to the African community.

“The ASIP mainly is a program that we wanted to launch in order to increase the contribution of mobile operators in supporting businesses. Especially that most of the start-ups are depending on the mobile networks, however, the contribution of mobile networks is not being significant. Telecel Group’s intention is to give support for this initiative”, said Mr. Damush, CEO of Telecel Group, while speaking at the panel that took place in the MWC 2019. “I announce the launch of the African Startup Initiative Program”, Mr. Damush exclaimed while concluding his speech.

The MWC is the foremost prestigious event in the World for the Telecom and IT industries. Leaders from all over the world gather to showcase the latest innovations. 14 startups from different industries were carefully selected to demonstrate their innovative business solutions at Telecel’s booth. The selected startups operate in fields such as technology, logistics, cybersecurity, mobile platforms, sustainability, digital learning, digital clinics, and agriculture.
